EAST LANSING – Michigan State University is offering a course this summer that may attract fans of The Walking Dead.

The school's schedule includes a class called , "Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse."

But fans of the popular TV show may be in for surprise. The

social work course, which will be offered online only, will examine how people handle themselves during such things as natural disasters and major catastrophic events.
The course will incorporate subjects such as anthropology, sociology, and geology and will be offered to both MSU students and guests.

The course garnered a lot of attention around the MSU campus as a "zombie" was seen walking around the campus last week promoting the topic, its own website, as well as a movie-style trailer.

The class will put students in "survival groups" that will face multiple challenges and tasks as they attempt to survive a catastrophic event and preserve the future of civilization. The 3-credit course begins on May 12 and will run through June 26.
